Performance and Beginning Band Participants commitment will be:
·         The purchase or rental of their own instrument, music stand, and music book.
·         14 week tuition of $199.   $15 Registration fee.

Meet our Band Director - Paul Murrell

Picture
Paul Murrell has lived the majority of his life in the Chesterfield and Midlothian area of  Virginia. His musical journey started in the
Chesterfield Co. middle school band program in 1975. He participated in the school music programs through High School resulting in a passion for self expression in music. This passion led him to Shenandoah Conservatory of Music with Studies in Performance, Education, Music Theory, Arranging and Composition. Through the many years of his Musical career he has traveled extensively as a Trumpet and Low Brass Player from Broadway to Atlanta playing Theater, Classical and Jazz. He has been seen onstage backing up The Temptations, The Supremes, Frankie Valley and a host of others. His years playing The Ringling Brothers Circus, the Richmond Concert Band and performances with the Richmond Symphony Strings have formed him into very diverse player, capturing the styles and interpretations of all forms of music.
For the past 19 years Paul has served as Split Lead and Improvisational Trumpeter for The Kings of Swing, performing for Presidents, Congressman, Senators and the like. He leads the Brass section at Southside Church of the Nazarene and provides custom musical arrangements for them as well as many other churches and organizations in the Richmond area. He has worked with many bands in the Chesterfield Public School System as an instructor and clinician for Jazz, Concert and Marching bands. His love for working with youth is apparent by his 13 years as a Scout Leader, a baseball coach, Director of the youth oriented Gloryland Band, and his endeavor to bring out the best in all those he works with through encouragement and commitment to those around him.
